Natural Home Remedies For Pink Lips

Natural Home Remedies For Pink Lips

All of us love wearing lip colours – be it vibrant shades, nudes or pastels. But no lipstick can create a perfect pout if your lips aren’t well cared for!

The skin on our lips is much thinner than the skin on the other parts of our body. Hence, the lips are more vulnerable to chapping and cracking and so it’s essential that we take utmost care of our lips at all times. Our lips have a lesser amount of oil glands and do not have the ability to create natural melanin. This means they have no protection against the sun. The dry air dehydrates the skin making our lips chapped and pigmented.

Many of us are born with gorgeous soft and pink lips, but our lips tend to darken as we age and adopt a specific lifestyle. But, there are very many reasons for pale, dark & pigmented lips such as tobacco, low quality cosmetics, weather, low blood circulation, overall body health, ageing etc. Regular use of lip balm is the fastest remedy for pigmented and chapped lips, but you also need a few simple home remedies to keep your lips naturally pink and soft:

HOME REMEDIES

  1. Aloe Vera Gel

Ingredients:

  • Aloe leaf

Method:

  • Peel off the outer layer of the aloe leaf to get to the gel
  • Scoop out the gel and store it in a container
  • Use as you would use a lip balm, and store in the refrigerator
  • Use it as frequently as you wish to

Why This Works?

Aloe vera is soothing, so it helps with chapped and irritated lips. It also stimulates the growth of new skin cells, and helps with the damage caused by the sun.

2. Lip Balm + Toothbrush

Ingredients:

  • Lip balm with thick consistency
  • Soft bristled toothbrush

How to use:

  • Apply a thick layer of lip balm on your lips, let it soak as this will make exfoliation easier
  • Gently massage with the toothbrush
  • Wipe with a cloth soaked in warm water
  • Apply lip balm to soothe your lips
  • Do this once a week

Why this works:

Regular exfoliation removes the dead skin layers of cell, leaving your skin looking softer and pinker.

3. Olive oil+Sugar

Ingredients:

  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tbsp granulated sugar

How to use:

  • Put the sugar and olive oil in a bowl and mix well
  • Scoop out little mixture and gently scrub your lips in circular motion
  • Wipe with a damp cloth
  • Apply lip to sooth your lips

Why this works:

The sugar helps remove the dead cells that make your lips dry and pigmented. The olive oil helps moisturise your lips, leaving it smoother and pinker.

4. Beetroot Balm

Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tbsp beeswax
  • 1 tbsp shea butter/cocoa butter
  • ½ tsp beetroot juice

How to use:

  • Place beeswax, shea butter/cocoa butter and olive oil in a bowl
  • Heat the saucepan and place the bowl in the pan and keep stirring until the ingredients melt
  • Add the beetroot juice to the mixture and stir well
  • Transfer the mixture in a container and let it cool and set
  • Apply as and when you like

Why this works:

Beetroot leaves a lovely stain on your lips and it also helps reduce pigmentation. This is due to vitamin C in beetroot. Olive oil and shea butter moisturise the lips whereas beeswax keeps your lips hydrated. It helps achieve pink lips naturally without applying a lipstick.

We hope you love these tips as much as we do!
